About Optimus Volleyball Academy
Optimus Volleyball Academy was created to be a positive experience for athletes and their parents. Our focus is on total player development achieved from well-designed practices concentrating on technique, positional skill work, and situational gameplay.
Our coaching staff has a love for the game of volleyball and a genuine passion for instilling their knowledge and expertise into every Optimus athlete. Our staff is committed to being the best and will always put the needs of the players first. We provide a top-quality training system that yields proven results.
Coaching Staff
Brett Hoffman
Club Director and Master Coach
Brett Hoffman founded the academy in 2022. He created it to always put players' interests first and to give a true academy experience, focusing on player development and true team concepts. He believes the best coaches focus on teaching the fundamentals, techniques, and skills to create the best players.
Brett began his coaching career in 1991, coaching high school and club teams. In 2018 his high school team had a top-eight finish in the PIAA Girls State Championships. He's had four club teams qualify for USA Nationals. All three of his children played on nationally ranked-club teams. He has also been giving private lessons to top athletes in the state and current collegiate athletes.
Koleman Hoffman
Koleman Hoffman joined the coaching staff as a head coach, he has five years of coaching experience.
Koleman has played volleyball for most of his life at both the high school and club levels. You can still find him playing in men's leagues and in outdoor tournaments.
Luke Braswell
Luke Braswell has joined the Optimus Volleyball Academy coaching staff as an assistant coach, bringing a background of collegiate playing with him.
Luke was a member of the Penn State Men's Volleyball team from 2015-2020 and a captain from 2017-2018. Luke helped the Nittany Lions to a 2017 EIVA Conference Championship and an Elite Eight finish in the 2017 NCAA Championship Tournament. That same year, he was awarded Most Outstanding Player at the EIVA Conference Tournament.
In his career as a Nittany Lion, Luke completed the 2020 season ranked third in assists among active players in NCAA DI, led the EIVA in assists per set in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, and earned Academic All-Big Ten Team honors for four straight years.
Before PSU, Luke was a member of the Northeastern School District volleyball team. The three time captain of the Bobcats helped his team to back-to-back PIAA State Championships in 2013 and 2014. Luke was named the 2013 York County Player of the Year, listed in Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 Players to Watch, and named first team all-state three times.
Taylor Conrad
Coach Taylor is from Wisconsin, where she started playing volleyball at 12 years old. During her senior year in high school, her volleyball team placed 2nd at the Wisconsin State Volleyball Tournament. She then attended Penn State Main Campus where she studied architecture and helped to start the Outdoor Volleyball Club. She previously coached for Manheim Township Middle School and PA Elite and continues to play in indoor and outdoor tournaments throughout the year.
Alycia Park-Ferretti
Alycia is in her fifth year coaching at the club level and entering her third year coaching school ball. She started playing as a freshman in high school and played college ball at Messiah University. She has extensive knowledge of the game and a passion for the sport and player development.
Greg Helm
Greg has been playing volleyball since he met his wife Tracy in 2000. He started coaching when his youngest daughter Bailey was in Manheim Township Middle School in 2021. He enjoys leading young players to find their true potential through simplifying basic skills and making them easy to understand. He also plays in men's and CoEd leagues & tournaments ranging from indoor 6s to outdoor grass doubles. Greg is also the creator of our weekly newsletter!
